Matthew LaGrange

Dr. Matthew LaGrange founded His Story Coaching and Counseling in 2011 with a vision to provide accessible, high-quality coaching and counseling services that meet the diverse needs of individuals, families, and organizations across the community. Under his leadership, His Story has grown into a respected practice known for its excellence in care and its dedicated team of certified life coaches and licensed counselors serving the DFW Metroplex.
Dr. LaGrange earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Marian College in Indianapolis, where he also served as student body president. He went on to complete a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology with distinction from St. Louis University and a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Purdue University.
After moving to Texas in 2003, Dr. LaGrange was called into full-time ministry at Highland Meadows Christian Church (now Compass Christian Church), where he oversaw pastoral care ministries including pastoral counseling, Stephen Ministry, and Celebrate Recovery. His leadership and vision led to significant program growth and ultimately inspired the creation of His Story as an independent organization in 2011.
Beyond his work at His Story, Dr. LaGrange served seven years as Chair of Psychology at Dallas Christian College and continues to teach as an adjunct professor. He remains active in his church community and has participated in outreach trips to Poland and Mexico. He is also the author of Rediscover Honor: The Lens That Changes Everything.
Dr. LaGrange has been married to his wife, Melissa, for more than 30 years. Together, they enjoy an active family life with their children, Lucas and Ellie. He is an avid sports enthusiast who enjoys reading, cooking, traveling, and meaningful work that strengthens others.
