When working with children, Claire’s areas of focus in play therapy include abuse, neglect, trauma, anxiety, depression, attachment stressors/issues, anger, low self-esteem, life adjustments, and difficulties in emotional regulation. Claire strives to create a safe therapeutic environment for every child by providing the emotional outlet of play where children are able to explore emotions/concerns and decrease stressors in developmentally appropriate ways. Claire also desires to build a strong alliance with a child’s caregiver(s) to equip them with supportive tools and a deeper understanding of their child’s presenting concerns.
When working with adolescents and adults, Claire’s areas of focus in activity therapy or talk therapy include trauma, stress, life adjustments, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, parenting issues, childhood wounds/issues, and emotional identification and processing. Claire strives to create a safe therapeutic environment and a strong therapeutic relationship by approaching clients with empathy and authenticity to help her clients feel seen, heard, and understood in their journey toward deeper understanding and healing.
Outside of individual counseling, Claire is a trained speaker who leads workshops and processing groups for our community. Claire is passionate about teaching and equipping caregivers of children with play therapy based insights and tools to strengthen the parent-child relationship since a strong parent-child relationship is vital to a child’s mental health.
